Dr Nigams Weight Loss Review

Is Dr Nigam’s weight loss Program worth buying?

Dr Nigam, famous TV doctor, is now getting more publicity due to his prepackaged food based weight loss programs.

dr-nigamsDr. Nigams weight loss program is being advertised online heavily in India these days. They use the catchy words “eat and lose” to give people a feeling that losing weight is very easy with the program. They even stress that exercising is not required!

Adnan Sami’s weight loss is being used by them on the official site without giving any details. There are many celebrity testimonials, including Kumar Shanu’s, on the official website of Dr.Nigams, but Adnan Sami’s testimonial (or comprehensive case study) is missing.

Dr Nigams Weight loss packages:

They have many weight loss packages like, weight loss for PCOD, HYPOTHYROID and KG based weight loss programs like 5 kg, 10 kg, 15 kg…. weight loss.

Most of the programs are “Slim on Phone” or “email” based. Only Mumbai people can go for some packages. They also sell low calorie muffins, low carb cookies, some toning machine etc.

Their basic weight loss packages (5 kg weight loss) start from Rs.7000. (They say, the money they collect is only Doctor’s fee and the prepackaged food would be given to you for free)

What exactly is Dr.Nigams “Slim on Phone” weight loss program?

It has 3 stages.

  • You decide your package (KG basis) and make payment. During this stage you get some basic details of the program. (Till you make your payment they will call you 5 times a day!)
  • After the payment, they will deliver some prepackaged food KIT to your doorsteps which includes “soy cookies, some other soy based products, some sauce and some gel/jam”. They also give a money back guarantee. (If you get products whose expiry date is over, you cannot ask for a refund, as these are given to you for FREE)
  • You will be given a doctor’s phone number, who will discuss with you, your priorities, your preferred food and later give you a customized diet menu. The same doctor would talk to you every week about the progress and would make modifications in the diet if needed.

If followed properly, you are going to lose the desired weight in guaranteed to time, or else you would get a refund.

This is what the whole program is, according to Dr.Nigams.

So far everything looks so good and rosy. It looks very easy to follow diet system. But reality seems to be little different.

  • You are not supposed to eat Rice, Wheat, Beet, Carrot, Potatoes during your diet period. Leave those vegetables, but do you think you would feel comfortable without eating rice (South Indians) or Wheat (North Indians) for 22 day a month? (Every week Saturday and Sunday seem to be diet holidays!). I don’t think this diet is easy for Indians.
  • People who have gone for it, complain that they call you many times till you make the payment. Later you are not likely to get such calls. Doctors do not show any interest or care, you are the one who has to call your doctor. (Dr Nigams is a group of doctors, chefs and few receptionists with sweet voice)
  • The “Food Kit” they provide has only few things, most the food has to be prepared by you. You will have to eat vegetables, fruits, soy and some other high protein foods. This is essentially as Low carb, Low Fat diet.
  • Real Users’ feedback is rather discouraging. I am sure, you are wise enough to weed out the fake user feedbacks from real. You get many positive user feedbacks (at online forums) on Dr.Nigams that directly recommend this diet without sharing any experiences. Almost all such feedbacks look cooked up and fake. Remember, anyone, user or sellers (posing as users) can make comments at online forums.

For me one user feedback looked genuine, you can read it at mouthshut.com

Does Dr. Nigams weight loss program really work?

It should work if followed correctly, but “Following correctly” isn’t easy at all. As mentioned earlier it is a Low carb and low fat diet; nothing extra ordinary in it; No miracle.

Personally, I am not impressed by the diet program. In US, UK and Canada, people have started avoiding these types of “prepackaged meal delivery system” based diet programs as these the “most difficult diets” to follow.

Make lot of research before you actually buy such diet programs. We would like to get feedback from people who used Dr. Nigam’s weight loss program.

These reviews are anti-Dr Nigam and not anti-technique. As for me, yes the food package is nothiong gr8 and feels difficult initially. But it is not very difficult once u change ur lifestyle accordingly. Follow up from their side is regular and it is better
to take it that way-somebody is getting the diet done from you systematically. And sacrifices hv to be made to achieve more particularly lose!!!

U get Saturdays and Sundays to enjoy. There r many good items /foods u can eat during the diet. Choice is purely of the individual.

  • poulami says:

I think it does work…..atleast it has worked with me.If you are a non vegetarian you can follow such diet programme. its really not a big deal.even if you are a vegetarian it will work…u can have all the vegetables except a few. Well one can manage that.

    Here, from the horses mouth….
I use to look like a big fat sumo wrestler untill i found Dr Nigams diet program. I remember there were days when my fans from accross the world use to love my voice and make fun of my bulky body, both at the same time. I mean, though I agree that my size lured a lot of fan following, and I do agree that most of it was out of the fact that chicks like teddy bear with a sweet voice, and I was making a lot of money out of it, so i thought it was okay, but then bloody Aatif took over and spoiled my market. And the worst part was he was fit and handsome. Chicks dig him. So I got frustated and started weighing my options. I had no choice but to loose weight. Not that I’m bad looking or anything, atleast i look better than that aatif guy, and moreover my voice is way cooler than Aatif or kailash kher. They sound more like beggers than singers. Never mind. Point is. I rock, so follow me. Please.
And the reason I didnt testify Dr Nigam’s program on his website was because at the time i was not making much money so I asked Dr Nigam to pay me money to testify. I knew he needed publicity, so I thought of encashing the situation to the fullest. But then he didnt offer me much so I thought, screw you Nigam, I’ll fly solo.
I also take credit in refering the program to Sonam kapoor. Masakalli wud’ve been moti-kali if it wasnt for yours truly. You know what i’m sayin’ ;)

hey guys is this really helpul please suggest i have been offered 20 kgs for 17500 rupees and i am not sure if i should go for the same or not pls suggest

are their any real memebers who have tried this ?

  • Rahul says:

Well to begin with… all of you need to understand the technique that is to be used to get slim.. and I think Dr Nigams uses the same formula…… I am nether in favor nor against it. Carbohydrate are required by our body to work its a source of energy, so if you are fat and then take a lot of Carbs then your body gets used to working only on the carbs you eat….. the mistake fat people make is that they start eating food with has very less fat (fat free icecream etc) but what they dont realise is that the same food is very high on Carbs…. any food has to either high on fat or carbs/protiens….. hence they intake a lot of carbs……since the body gets a lot of carbs it never needs any extra source… …. now when you start taking a diet which is low on Carbs then your body looks for other sources of energy and that is the flubber in you (the Fat). Our Body is a self evolving machine…. once you start eating less carbs then the body goes into reserve mode and starts using its reserves…. its like riding a bike… you will only need the reserve petrol once the tank runs out….. so the same is with your body… once your body sees that there is not enough Carbs to use its uses the fat in your body.. and hence you get slim……. the success of such a diet solely lies on how strictly you follow… its like you have to fool your body to start using fats in your body…. and ho you do that is by eating food.. making the body feel that you are eating regularly but don’t supply the body with enough carbs and hence strive it of the energy and force it to use your fats……..

Once you know the science behid the diet then you can more strictly follow it……. I hope it helps you all..

      Hey dude…
i read your comment n even i am of the same view that we should consume less carbs because during work out our body burns carbs first and than it starts burning fats…
but am bit confused about which food contains how much varbs n which food is carbs free…
can you please forward me a mail bout the meals which contains minimum carbs so that i can reduce my fats as soon as possible…
i belong to jain comunity so plz forward me meals which are veg…

  • mithoon says:

I successfully completed the program(May-Aug 2005) and lost 12kgs in 3 months, they had promised that it would be a lifestyle change, and they were right.

  • Gauri says:

I had taken the 10kg. prog. I managed to lose about 8kg.in 2 months.
It works, that I am sure. Whether it is healthy to lose fat / weight in this manner, I do not know.
Also one is supposed to take ‘guargum’ before meals which gives you a ‘tummy full’ feel. Not sure whether that is healthy.
But bottom line – I got results without any exercise at all.
